Pizza Muffins Ingredients

To make pizza muffins, you’ll need just 5 ingredients – crescent roll dough, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and a sprinkling of parsley.

How Do You Make Pizza Muffins?

When you make this pizza muffins recipe, the first step is to cut your crescent roll dough into squares. Press each crescent roll dough square into the well of a muffin tin forming little cups. Spread in the cups a layer of pizza sauce. Add some shredded cheese and your favorite toppings. My go to topping is pepperoni, but you can use whatever you like. Put the muffins in the oven and they’ll be ready to eat in about 10-12 minutes. When the muffins come out of the oven, let them cool a bit, remove them from the tin. Sprinkle them with parsley and enjoy!

Tips For The Perfect Pizza Muffins

  • You can cut your crescent roll dough with a pizza cutter
  • I like to add a little sprinkling of parsley for added color, but I know some kids (and adults!) can be adverse to the “green stuff”, so feel free to omit the parsley.
  • Put a little cooking spray on the muffin tin to avoid the muffins sticking to the tin.
  • Leftover savory muffins stay good in the refrigerator up to 3 days in an airtight container. Simply reheat them in an oven for a few minutes at 350 degrees F.
  • This recipe can easily be doubled or even tripled if you’re feeding a crowd.

Quick Tip

For this recipe, you’ll want to look for crescent roll dough sheets, they come in a can just like regular crescent rolls.

Pizza muffins work as a snack, an appetizer or a main course. If you serve them as a main course, try serving them with a nice Italian salad, garlic knots or cheesy pull apart bread.

Flavor Variations

These pizza muffins are a satisfying snack as-is; however, you can customize them to your own taste.

  • Toppings: I keep things simple and use mini pepperoni as a topping, but other great options would be diced bell pepper, sliced black olives or other veggies. You could also use cooked and crumbled Italian sausage, Canadian bacon or chopped up ham.
  • Spicy: Add some heat to your muffins with crushed rep pepper flakes on top, spicy pepperoni or spicy cooked and crumbled sausage.
  • Seasoning: Try some savory seasonings like a sprinkle of Italian seasoning, chopped fresh basil, oregano or a sprinkle of garlic powder.
  • Cheese: You can add other cheeses like parmesan cheese, provolone cheese or cheddar cheese.

These pizza muffins are perfect for a birthday party, or sometimes I serve them alongside sauteed broccolini and call it dinner. While these pizza muffins are always a hit with the kids, adults love them too!

I always keep a roll of crescent dough in the fridge so that I can whip up some pizza cups at a moment’s notice. If you’re a fan of crescent rolls, you’ll definitely want to check out my list of 46 crescent roll recipes, there are tons of ideas for every occasion.
