These Cuban sliders are rolls piled high with meat, cheese and pickles, then brushed with garlic butter and baked to golden brown perfection. The perfect slider sandwich for parties, game day or as an easy dinner option.
Cuban sandwiches are popular for good reason – who doesn’t love melted cheese and meat on crusty bread? These baked Cuban sandwich sliders are even better than the original, and they also happen to be super easy to make! I serve them alongside other appetizer recipes including buffalo shrimp, teriyaki meatballs and caprese skewers.
One of my very favorite things to serve when I’m entertaining is slider sandwiches. They’re satisfying, easy to make, and they feed a crowd. These Cuban sliders are the ultimate slider sandwich in my opinion, everyone seems to love the ham and cheese combination. Looking for more great party snacks or game day ideas? Cuban Sliders Ingredients
To make this slider recipe, you will need slider rolls, ham, Swiss cheese, dill pickle slices, butter, garlic powder, parsley and yellow mustard.
How Do You Make Cuban Sliders?
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Start by cutting your slider rolls in half crosswise. Arrange the bottom layer of rolls on a baking sheet. Place half of the cheese slices on the bottom of the rolls. Add the ham, pickles, then another layer of cheese. Place the tops of the rolls on the sandwiches. Mix together melted butter and garlic powder, then brush the mixture over the top of the sliders. Cover the baking pan with foil and bake until the cheese melts. Uncover the sliders and bake until the bread is golden brown. Sprinkle with parsley, then serve with a side of mustard.
Tips For The Perfect Dish
- You can use potato rolls, Hawaiian rolls, or any other slider style buns that you like. I’ve used potato rolls in these photos, but I also love Hawaiian rolls. You can even use homemade dinner rolls.
- Choose high quality deli ham such as a smoked ham or honey ham for the best flavor.
- Cuban sliders are best when you serve them right away when they’re piping hot.
- I offer the mustard on the side because I find that not everyone enjoys mustard. It’s also fine to add a thin layer to the rolls before you add the meat, cheese and pickles.
- If you’re serving these sandwiches as a meal, be sure to offer some complimentary side dishes such as black beans and rice, homemade French fries, sweet potato fries or cucumber dill salad.
Quick Tip
Leftovers will stay fresh in an airtight container for 2 days. Reheat sandwiches covered with foil in the oven at 350 degrees F for 8-10 minutes.
Recipe FAQs
Cuban sandwiches traditionally contain roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, mustard and pickles, all layered onto crusty rolls and pressed when cooked. This version takes the familiar ingredients and turns them into hand held party sandwiches.
A Cuban sandwich is known as a Cubano.

Flavor Variations
These sandwiches are fabulous as-is, but you can make some changes to customize the flavors to your tastes.
- Protein: You can add roast pork to the sandwiches for more flavor and texture. When I do this, I typically cook some pork tenderloin and slice it thin, or use leftover pulled pork.
- Cheese: Swiss cheese is traditional for this type of sandwich, but you can use provolone cheese, havarti, mozzarella or cheddar for a different flavor.
- Toppings: If you like sauce, feel free to add a thin layer of mustard or mayonnaise to the rolls before you add the meat, cheese and pickles. You can use yellow mustard or Dijon mustard.
Everyone always goes crazy over these sliders – they’re the first thing to go at any gathering! I especially love to serve them on game day, it’s the perfect handheld hearty snack.
