I’m sharing some easy summer entertaining ideas with the ultimate 5-Layer Mexican dip plus cool and refreshing watermelon agua fresca drinks to serve on the side!
Summer is in full swing and the weather here in California has been just beautiful. We’ve had a few insanely hot days, but for the most part it’s been moderate temperatures, cool breezes and plenty of blue sunny skies. I’ve been doing a lot of outdoor entertaining to fully take advantage of the season, and one of my favorite things to do is invite family and friends over for appetizers and drinks, like 5-layer dip and watermelon agua fresca.
As much as I love to entertain, I don’t always have the time or energy to spend hours in the kitchen preparing for guests. I’ve started stocking my fridge with party food essentials so that I’m ready to go when I feel like having friends to the house. Our go-to party snack this summer has been Rojo’s Black Bean, Corn & Chorizo 5-Layer Dip!
Rojo’s makes amazing restaurant-quality salsas, and this new Black Bean, Corn & Chorizo 5-Layer Dip is an awesome addition to their lineup. It’s full of quality ingredients like layers of black beans, fresh corn, chili and black bean salsa, chorizo queso, sour cream and cheddar cheese. It’s a protein packed hearty appetizer that is so flavorful, just add chips and serve! I also love that this dip is gluten free, perfect for guests with dietary restrictions. Rojo’s products are made in small batches using premium fresh ingredients which create a product that tastes fresh and homemade.
I buy my Rojo’s products in the refrigerator section, they’re available at most major grocery retailers nationwide, including Sam’s Club. When my guests arrive, I simply open up a container of dip, grab a bag of chips and some fresh veggies for dipping, and everyone is happy!
How Do You Make Watermelon Agua Fresca?
I like to serve a special watermelon agua fresca drink to go along with my 5-layer dip. It’s a simple combination of fresh watermelon, sugar, lime juice and water that gets blended together for a sweet and refreshing complement to the bold flavors of the dip. The first step in making the agua fresca is to blend together watermelon, lime juice and sugar. The watermelon mixture gets strained and mixed with water and you’ve got agua fresca! I like to make my watermelon agua fresca extra party-worthy by serving it up with fun garnishes, like sugar crusted glass rims, fresh mint sprigs and lime slices. You can even garnish with small wedges of watermelon if you like.
Summer entertaining doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming. Your guests will be thrilled with this hearty and refreshing combination of savory dip and sweet cool drinks, and you’ll be happy to spend time with your family and friends instead of spending hours in the kitchen!
