This bacon wrapped chicken is chicken breasts seasoned with brown sugar and spices, then wrapped in bacon and baked until caramelized. An easy chicken dinner with only 10 minutes of prep time.

Bacon wrapped chicken breast looks so impressive, but requires very little effort. It’s great for a casual family dinner, yet looks fancy enough for company. It’s one of my favorite chicken dishes along with chicken adobo and rosemary chicken.

Bacon wrapped chicken breast with sauce in a skillet.

I have a household full of bacon and chicken lovers. We eat chicken dinners often and this  chicken is one of our favorite dishes to have in the dinner rotation. It only takes minutes to prep, then simply bake your chicken to crispy golden brown perfection and enjoy!

This chicken goes great with sides like crispy brussels sprouts, smashed potatoes and honey glazed carrots. Add a couple of sides and make a great meal!

HOW DO YOU MAKE BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?

The best part of this baked bacon wrapped chicken is the seasoning. Brown sugar and a variety of spices are mixed together in a bowl and rubbed on the chicken before it’s wrapped in bacon and baked in the oven. It’s an extremely fast dinner to prepare and it will be eaten just as quickly.

Any type of chicken is fine for this recipe, such as thighs or drumsticks instead of breasts. It’s important to note that no matter the chicken you choose, be sure that each piece is roughly the same size so it will cook evenly. You’ll want to avoid using a thick cut bacon for this recipe as it will take much longer to cook.

If you like your bacon crispy like I do, it’s fine to broil your chicken for about 2-3 minutes at the end of the cooking time. Watch closely though; the sauce has sugar in it and will burn quickly if left to broil for too long. It’s worth the extra effort since the crispy bacon, in my opinion, adds the perfect texture to the dish.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN CHICKEN IS DONE?

The best way to tell if you chicken is cooked is by slicing it open. If it’s white all the way to the middle, then it’s done. However, if you don’t want to slice into your chicken before you serve it, a meat thermometer comes in quite handy. Stick the thermometer through the middle of the chicken, stopping about midway through. The safe temperature you’re looking for is at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit or 75 degrees Celsius.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COOK BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?

This chicken recipe calls for up to 30 minutes of baking time. Since all ovens aren’t created equally, the times for baking can vary greatly. Some wrapped chicken recipes can take as long as 40 minutes to bake. It also depends on the thickness of your chicken breasts. Larger, thicker breasts will take longer to cook. This recipe assumes an average sized chicken breast of 4-5 ounces.

We love to serve our bacon wrapped chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. However, it goes great with a lot of other side options.

I made this, and it was delicious! But I’m wondering, can save the leftovers and eat them the next day?

This recipe looks so good and I cannot wait to try it! I was thinking about stuffing this with some homemade pico de gallo also a little bit of jalapeno and pepper jack cheese. Do you think that would be a good idea? Thanks! 🙂

I was limited on what was food was in my house, but was dying to try this. I had to use pork loin chops instead of chicken. Fantastic!!!! I love the flavor of the ingredients. I’ll definitely be trying this with chicken too.

Fabulous recipe! Easily adjusted to your own tastes and/or dietary requirements. I will flip the pieces half way through the cooking time, next time, though so the bacon will be a bit more crispy on the bottom. I also cooked mine on a rack in the pan to allow the oil from the bacon to drain off. The chicken was still juicy and I don’t need those fat calories.

This was quite good. I cut down the sugar a lot (2 tbs instead of 1/4 cup) and added chili powder. I seared the chicken first on the stovetop and half fried the bacon to get it a bit crispy.

    1. Made this plastic night and it was fabulous. I was surprised at the bacon grease but it looked exactly as pictured. Very easy to prepare.

This has quickly become a family favorite! Super easy for a weeknight and it’s gone in a flash. Even the picky youngest boy goes for seconds.

  7. I’ve made this twice now. Absolutely delicious and super easy! I use broken raw spaghetti noodles to wrap the bacon around the chicken. Just poke thru the ends of the bacon into the chicken. The noodles will cook while chicken cooks. You can either eat it or just pull the noodle out and throw away. Thank you for this great recipe. Ii
    Will be making it often.

I served this with baked sweet potato and baby corn and it made a fabulous Sunday dinner for my family. Thoroughly recommend.

I’ve used this recipe with a boneless, skinless turkey breast, and it was amazing! To apply the bacon, I weaved it first before wrapping the turkey, and held it in place with toothpicks.

Made these for dinner tonight and they were great, the only thing I had to do/adjust was turn them over to get the bacon underneath to get crispy because my husband asked if I could. Otherwise these were an excellent quick to make dinner that doesn’t require a lot of ingredients and the flavors of bacon and brown were fabulous! Thanks for the recipe 😊

    1. Please can I ask if the nutrition is based on the whole dish or per serving, thankyou.
This really is a delicious recipe, we absolutely love it

I did not turn them over this time, but wish I had! However, I DID cook them on a rack rather than let them sit in the juice. The chicken was still very juicy but we didn’t get all that oil (fat) from the bacon. I also prefer just a little less brown sugar as I’m sensitive to sweets.

But, it’s A FABULOUS recipe that can be adjusted for your own needs and tastes.
