This bacon wrapped chicken is chicken breasts seasoned with brown sugar and spices, then wrapped in bacon and baked until caramelized. An easy chicken dinner with only 10 minutes of prep time.

Bacon wrapped chicken breast looks so impressive, but requires very little effort. It’s great for a casual family dinner, yet looks fancy enough for company. It’s one of my favorite chicken dishes along with chicken adobo and rosemary chicken.

Bacon wrapped chicken breast with sauce in a skillet.

I have a household full of bacon and chicken lovers. We eat chicken dinners often and this  chicken is one of our favorite dishes to have in the dinner rotation. It only takes minutes to prep, then simply bake your chicken to crispy golden brown perfection and enjoy!

This chicken goes great with sides like crispy brussels sprouts, smashed potatoes and honey glazed carrots. Add a couple of sides and make a great meal!

HOW DO YOU MAKE BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?

The best part of this baked bacon wrapped chicken is the seasoning. Brown sugar and a variety of spices are mixed together in a bowl and rubbed on the chicken before it’s wrapped in bacon and baked in the oven. It’s an extremely fast dinner to prepare and it will be eaten just as quickly.

Chicken breasts coated in brown sugar and spices.

Any type of chicken is fine for this recipe, such as thighs or drumsticks instead of breasts. It’s important to note that no matter the chicken you choose, be sure that each piece is roughly the same size so it will cook evenly. You’ll want to avoid using a thick cut bacon for this recipe as it will take much longer to cook.

If you like your bacon crispy like I do, it’s fine to broil your chicken for about 2-3 minutes at the end of the cooking time. Watch closely though; the sauce has sugar in it and will burn quickly if left to broil for too long. It’s worth the extra effort since the crispy bacon, in my opinion, adds the perfect texture to the dish.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN CHICKEN IS DONE?

The best way to tell if you chicken is cooked is by slicing it open. If it’s white all the way to the middle, then it’s done. However, if you don’t want to slice into your chicken before you serve it, a meat thermometer comes in quite handy. Stick the thermometer through the middle of the chicken, stopping about midway through. The safe temperature you’re looking for is at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit or 75 degrees Celsius.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COOK BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?

This chicken recipe calls for up to 30 minutes of baking time. Since all ovens aren’t created equally, the times for baking can vary greatly. Some wrapped chicken recipes can take as long as 40 minutes to bake. It also depends on the thickness of your chicken breasts. Larger, thicker breasts will take longer to cook. This recipe assumes an average sized chicken breast of 4-5 ounces.

We love to serve our bacon wrapped chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. However, it goes great with a lot of other side options.

This was a hit with my family! Since I had thick cut bacon, I precooked it for a few minutes in the microwave before wrapping the chicken.
Thanks for sharing this recipe- it’s a keeper!

  2. Hi, Can I use maple syrup instead of refined sugar? Try to avoid it where possible. How much would you suggest? Thx

I invited company for supper and ran out of another ingredient, my smoker needed some work, so had to find an alternative way to cook chicken in short order. This was absolutely delightful! Also it’s such a beautiful, attractive meat. I believe I will make it again and again. I used boneless, skinless, all natural chicken thighs and will probably always use thighs and a thick cut of bacon worked fine for me. My family was happy and really liked !!! Thank you so much for sharing.

I ended up cooking the chicken breasts for about 45 minutes. I also had the oven rack two notches able the heating element. I think I may end up cutting the breasts in half next time. I loved the seasoning rub for this recipe. I served them with scrambled eggs to my boys and I. Thank you for sharing!

  11. I have 3 grown children who are very hard to please with the same food. But this was a hit with all 3. Thank you so much.

Delicious, similar to a barbeque taste without the sauce. Would definitely make this again. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

I live alone so i like to try new recipes all the time.. & I made this a few weeks ago for something different. It turned out SO good, like I had worked all day to acheive this flavor lol this combination is heavenly. Im making it again tonight, last time i only had regular paprika so I bet its even better with the smoked paprika tonight! Thank you for this amazing concoction.

  14. This recipe is an absolute favourite in my house. I tweak the seasoning a bit, and usually brush it with a maple bbq sauce near the end of the cooking time. Delicious!

  15. I have never written a recipe review, but this one deserves recognition. My husband called it a “religious experience” while all three of my teenage sons ate every bite raving about how good it is. While they are human garbage disposals, someone always complains about what we’re eating…until today. This will be a new staple; especially given how easy it is! Don’t change a thing-cook it like it is and enjoy celebrity status with your family and friends!
