This bacon wrapped chicken is chicken breasts seasoned with brown sugar and spices, then wrapped in bacon and baked until caramelized. An easy chicken dinner with only 10 minutes of prep time.

Bacon wrapped chicken breast looks so impressive, but requires very little effort. It’s great for a casual family dinner, yet looks fancy enough for company. It’s one of my favorite chicken dishes along with chicken adobo and rosemary chicken.

Bacon wrapped chicken breast with sauce in a skillet.

I have a household full of bacon and chicken lovers. We eat chicken dinners often and this  chicken is one of our favorite dishes to have in the dinner rotation. It only takes minutes to prep, then simply bake your chicken to crispy golden brown perfection and enjoy!

This chicken goes great with sides like crispy brussels sprouts, smashed potatoes and honey glazed carrots. Add a couple of sides and make a great meal!

HOW DO YOU MAKE BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?

The best part of this baked bacon wrapped chicken is the seasoning. Brown sugar and a variety of spices are mixed together in a bowl and rubbed on the chicken before it’s wrapped in bacon and baked in the oven. It’s an extremely fast dinner to prepare and it will be eaten just as quickly.

Chicken breasts coated in brown sugar and spices.

Any type of chicken is fine for this recipe, such as thighs or drumsticks instead of breasts. It’s important to note that no matter the chicken you choose, be sure that each piece is roughly the same size so it will cook evenly. You’ll want to avoid using a thick cut bacon for this recipe as it will take much longer to cook.

If you like your bacon crispy like I do, it’s fine to broil your chicken for about 2-3 minutes at the end of the cooking time. Watch closely though; the sauce has sugar in it and will burn quickly if left to broil for too long. It’s worth the extra effort since the crispy bacon, in my opinion, adds the perfect texture to the dish.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN CHICKEN IS DONE?

The best way to tell if you chicken is cooked is by slicing it open. If it’s white all the way to the middle, then it’s done. However, if you don’t want to slice into your chicken before you serve it, a meat thermometer comes in quite handy. Stick the thermometer through the middle of the chicken, stopping about midway through. The safe temperature you’re looking for is at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit or 75 degrees Celsius.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COOK BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?

This chicken recipe calls for up to 30 minutes of baking time. Since all ovens aren’t created equally, the times for baking can vary greatly. Some wrapped chicken recipes can take as long as 40 minutes to bake. It also depends on the thickness of your chicken breasts. Larger, thicker breasts will take longer to cook. This recipe assumes an average sized chicken breast of 4-5 ounces.

We love to serve our bacon wrapped chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. However, it goes great with a lot of other side options.

DELISHUS!!! I cut the brown sugar down to one tbsp for lower carb eating and it was still amazing. I also followed others suggestions to turn the chicken over and broil the bottom side for a few minutes to crisp the bacon. The breast meat stayed super moist, unlike so many other recipes. This one is going into the regular rotation fo sho. Thank you for the idea!

Do you pound Chechen breast to cook evenly ? If so, then do you cut some bacon can still wrap around ?

    1. I do not pound my chicken breasts, and the bake time for this recipe is written assuming regular shaped chicken breasts!

Followed the recipe and it was amazing. Goes on list of favorite dishes to serve. I will turn chicken last 5 minutes to crisp baccon on bottom next time. It is a keeper. Thank you!

Delicious!! My family and I loved the flavor. I agree with some other comments that the bottom bacon was soft. Would the chicken be as moist if you cooked it on a rack?

    1. I think it would work fine to cook on a rack, you may just want to baste it occasionally with some of the drippings in the pan.

This was great! The rub was very flavorful. The bacon on the bottom was a little less cooked than I prefer (I like my bacon crispy) , but I saw one commenter mention they flipped the breasts at the end and put it under the broiler. I will try that next time or maybe place them in a rack.

Made this for Christmas dinner as we were only three people. All I can say is UHMAZING! The chicken breast was so tender and moist. It was the best chicken breast we have ever had. Thanks for the recipe!! Eda

  7. Made this tonight. The house smells amazing and we can’t wait to eat. Serving it with fresh green beans and baby potatoes

I used chicken tenders and also put some of the mix on a piece of salmon…I fixed both on the grill and they were spectacular. Next time, I’m going to use it as a dry rub for ribs.

Love this, but with one small change, I seared the chicken in a pan with the spices, then removed the chicken and wrapped it in bacon, covered with more spices then cooked in the oven for 30 mins. Delicious!

Lovely flavour and presentation. Made this tonight and it looks just like the photos. The bacon on the bottom of each breast was a bit ‘soft’ for my taste but that was easily rectified by flipping them and placing under the broiler for a few minutes. Will be making this again. Thank you!

  12. This was amazing. Hubby thought it was too. Will definitely do this again. My breast were large so cut them in half. Still used all the bacon and all the spices plus brown sugar. Yummy.

Made this last night for me and my mum, it was AMAZING! super easy to put together after a long work day, and the spices were so flavorful. I served it with pasta and ratatouille, and poured the fat from the cooked bacon over top the whole dish. Don’t even get me started on the caramelized brown sugar, oh my goddd! 10/10 dish. i’ll be adding this to my weekly rotation.

It was so delicious…I did take a picture of it! Looked like a picture from a restaurant! So good! Had it with asparagus and cheese sauce, and fruit salad.

    1. Yes you’ll just need to make sure the chicken is cooked through properly, you may want to use a meat thermometer!

This is a keeper for us! The only thing I did differently was to cut a pocket in each breast and put a stick of string cheese. Super good! I think next time I will put them on a rack. Thank you!
