Enjoy this fun drink with Halloween treats and snacks like a Halloween charcuterie board, a pumpkin cheese ball and candy bar blondies. For the adults, try Halloween Jello shots!

Witches Brew Ingredients

To make this recipe, you will need orange soda, pineapple juice, orange sherbet and gummy worms or gummy spiders. For amounts and details see the recipe card below.

  • Orange Sherbet: You can find orange sherbet in the ice cream aisle of your local grocery store. Look for a sherbet that has a nice orange color. The sherbet adds a little creaminess to the drink that can’t be beat!
  • Orange Soda: Pick your favorite brand of orange soda. Get a 2 liter bottle as it will cost less than getting a lot of cans.
  • Pineapple Juice: You can use refrigerated or shelf stable pineapple juice. Look for a juice that has a nice golden yellow color.

How Do You Make Witches Brew?

To make this witches brew drink, first place scoops of orange sherbet in the bottom of a large pitcher or punch bowl. Pour the pineapple juice and orange soda over the sherbet then stir to combine. Float some extra scoops of sherbet on top of the punch. Add your gummies or other Halloween decorations as garnish, then serve at a Halloween party or other fun occasion.

Tips For The Perfect Witches Brew

  • This witches brew is best when served immediately, as the sherbet will continue to melt in the drink over time.
  • Chill your orange soda and pineapple juice in the refrigerator. The cold will help the sherbet to not melt as quickly.
  • For an even more vivid Halloween orange hue in the drink, add a few drops of orange food coloring.
  • You can add some novelty ice cubes such as eyeball ice cubes for an extra festive presentation.
  • Feel free to use dry ice for a smoky effect. If you use dry ice, you can put a large chunk in the bottom of the punch bowl, or put some dry ice in a large bowl with some water, then place a smaller bowl of the punch inside the larger bowl. Either way, make sure no one actually drinks the dry ice.
  • For very little ones, serve the candy separately to avoid choking.

Quick Tip

Add the gummies at the last minute before serving, otherwise they can melt in the drink.

Recipe FAQs

How far in advance can you make punch?

I recommend making this witches brew Halloween punch right before you serve it. Otherwise, the sherbet will melt and the soda can go flat.

Is it safe to put dry ice in punch for Halloween?

It is safe to put dry ice in punch for Halloween so long as no one ingests the dry ice. If you have a chunk of ice in the punch bowl, simply scoop around it and make sure it’s not in anyone’s cup. Or, put the dry ice in a container near the punch bowl, or in a bowl under the punch bowl for a similar smoke effect.

Flavor Variations

This witches brew punch is delicious as is, but you can easily substitute in other ingredients for a different flavor and look.

  • Green Witches Brew: Use green Hawaiian punch, lemon lime soda and lime sherbet.
  • Juice: For a different taste, swap out the pineapple juice for orange juice or mango nectar.
  • Soda: You can use lemon lime soda or ginger ale instead of orange soda, you’ll just need to add some orange food coloring to the drink.
  • Sherbet: If you can’t find orange sherbet, pineapple sherbet is a great substitute.
  • Alcohol: Turn this into an adult drink by adding 1 1/2 cups of vodka or white rum.
  • Candy: You can use your favorite gummy candies like peach rings, gummy sharks, etc.

You cannot go wrong with witches brew for a delicious and refreshing drink that’s perfect for Halloween.
