This bacon wrapped chicken is chicken breasts seasoned with brown sugar and spices, then wrapped in bacon and baked until caramelized. An easy chicken dinner with only 10 minutes of prep time.
Bacon wrapped chicken breast looks so impressive, but requires very little effort. It’s great for a casual family dinner, yet looks fancy enough for company. It’s one of my favorite chicken dishes along with chicken adobo and rosemary chicken.
I have a household full of bacon and chicken lovers. We eat chicken dinners often and this chicken is one of our favorite dishes to have in the dinner rotation. It only takes minutes to prep, then simply bake your chicken to crispy golden brown perfection and enjoy!
This chicken goes great with sides like crispy brussels sprouts, smashed potatoes and honey glazed carrots. Add a couple of sides and make a great meal!
HOW DO YOU MAKE BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?
The best part of this baked bacon wrapped chicken is the seasoning. Brown sugar and a variety of spices are mixed together in a bowl and rubbed on the chicken before it’s wrapped in bacon and baked in the oven. It’s an extremely fast dinner to prepare and it will be eaten just as quickly.
Any type of chicken is fine for this recipe, such as thighs or drumsticks instead of breasts. It’s important to note that no matter the chicken you choose, be sure that each piece is roughly the same size so it will cook evenly. You’ll want to avoid using a thick cut bacon for this recipe as it will take much longer to cook.
If you like your bacon crispy like I do, it’s fine to broil your chicken for about 2-3 minutes at the end of the cooking time. Watch closely though; the sauce has sugar in it and will burn quickly if left to broil for too long. It’s worth the extra effort since the crispy bacon, in my opinion, adds the perfect texture to the dish.
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHEN CHICKEN IS DONE?
The best way to tell if you chicken is cooked is by slicing it open. If it’s white all the way to the middle, then it’s done. However, if you don’t want to slice into your chicken before you serve it, a meat thermometer comes in quite handy. Stick the thermometer through the middle of the chicken, stopping about midway through. The safe temperature you’re looking for is at least 165 degrees Fahrenheit or 75 degrees Celsius.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COOK BACON WRAPPED CHICKEN?
This chicken recipe calls for up to 30 minutes of baking time. Since all ovens aren’t created equally, the times for baking can vary greatly. Some wrapped chicken recipes can take as long as 40 minutes to bake. It also depends on the thickness of your chicken breasts. Larger, thicker breasts will take longer to cook. This recipe assumes an average sized chicken breast of 4-5 ounces.
We love to serve our bacon wrapped chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. However, it goes great with a lot of other side options.

Can chicken thighs be used?
Yes thighs will work great!
I have made this in the slow cooker for years, which brings me to your site as I was preparing it today in my slow cooker and my slow cooker died! So This is my first time baking it in the oven, I wanted to know what temp and for how long.
For those of you wanting to do it in the slow cooker it is the same recipe on Low for 5-6 hours or High for 7-8 hours and I always broil it for 2 minutes at the end for a little more crispy’ ness . You don’t have to because it does get lightly crispy in the slow cooker if you prefer it that way. Thank you for sharing!
Tried this recipe for first time 3 days ago. Took 4 large boneless/skinless breasts and cut each in 3 strips (12 total). Served with au gratin potato casserole and honey glazed carrots. Picky-eater grandkids went crazy on this, lol. Definitely a hit for everyone!
Do I you think I’d have to change the time if I used Turkey Bacon? Or would it be fine? I don’t like pork or beef, and usually, we eat poultry more than anything but I only ever bake my bacon when I don’t have time to fry it in a pan for breakfast…
I think it should be fine, but you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn since it has less fat than traditional bacon!
Anyone made these in an instant pot? If so how and how did they turn out?
I’m not sure that this would be a good candidate for the Instant Pot because the bacon wouldn’t crisp up.
I made this tonight for my family. We were all impressed with how delicious, juicy and tender the chicken was. I don’t think I ever want to eat chicken again without bacon! I used boneless, skinless chicken breasts that I cut in 1/2. I did have to cook it a little bit longer, but that didn’t dry it out a bit. Yum!
Yay so glad to hear you enjoyed it! Thanks for reporting back!
I’ve tried this several times and it was delicious. I was wondering if it would work with thick chicken tenders??
That should work fine, you’ll just want to reduce the baking time accordingly!
Super delicious! Instructions are well written and easy to follow.
I also shared the recipe with my daughter, and it was a success as well.
Thank you very much!
So glad to hear you’re enjoying this one, thanks for reporting back!
Thanks for this recipe without the cheese. I love cheese but one of my guests can’t eat it.I plan on making this soon..it sounds scrumpious.thanks sooo much.jean
Made this for dinner tonight! Added a little extra sugar, garlic, onion, salt, & pepper. A little less paprika. I filleted 2 large breasts instead of cooking 4. Cooked for about 20-25 minutes and then broiled for 2 minutes. SO GOOD!! Thanks for this recipe!
SO happy to hear you enjoyed it,thanks for reporting back!
I made this last night and it was SO GOOD!!!! I had my chicken in a sweet/savory marinade prior to finding the recipe, but it worked out great! I did not add the sugar after wrapping in the bacon because I knew my husband would think it’s too sweet. I blasted the chicken every 10 minutes while cooking, and broiled for 2 minutes once it reached 165. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Yum yum yum!!!
i use debone chicken drumstick and add some chedder cheese , everyone ready love it, thank for sharing.

Hi, Sara, Just thought I’d let you know I made this recipe for a personal chef client the other day and it turned out great! I used boneless skinless chicken thighs as they don’t care for white meat chicken. I was a little skeptical about the bacon browning but the sugar did the trick! Thanks so much!
I made this last night, rave reviews from my family. I only had thick cut bacon and would recommend turning about half way through cooking time. But it was super easy and delicious. It’s going into the rotation. ** Is there any way for you to move the floating Share button on the side? It is very annoying. If people ARE going to share, they are going to share.**
Thanks for reporting back glad you enjoyed it! Will look into the share bar issue, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
I made this and it is SO GOOD! I would definitely recommend it to anyone and I’m keeping this recipe thank you!
So glad to hear you enjoyed it, thanks for coming back to comment!
I made this for Sunday supper tonight and everyone loved it! I used chicken breast tenderloins which needed only one bacon strip. At the end of the oven cooking and just before putting it under the broiler to crisp up the bacon , I brushed each with a sauce I whipped together from scratch made up 8f a dash each of chili sauce, A-1 sauce, Tobasco and yellow mustard. They tasted like they were cooked outside in the smoker. So tasty!
That sounds so delicious I’ll definitely need to try it that way next time. Thanks for reporting back!
I’m always looking for great chicken dinner meals and this one hit all the marks! Fast, easy, and very tasty.
I noticed you mentioned to pick chicken breast that are close to same size. Since I already purchased mine and they were not close, I decided to pound them into submission, just a little. When it was all done, it tasted just
wonderful.
I don’t do paprika so I just excluded it but next time I’m gonna try with it.
Thank you,
Yvonne
So glad to hear you enjoyed this, thanks for reporting back!
I’m what you might call a cooking novice. These were easy to make and the recipe was straightforward. Everything came out perfect and done. My wife thought I was a hero for one night.
So glad to hear it was a hit, thanks for reporting back!
Made this bacon wrapped chicken yesterday and it was amazing! chicken was DELICIOUS and not dry in the least bit (like what sometimes happens w chicken breast). This recipe is a keeper and worthy of making for guests.
