Tips For The Perfect Drink
- I recommend using refrigerated 100% pomegranate juice for the best flavor.
- This recipe makes one drink. You can easily scale the recipe up for a larger crowd by changing the number of servings in the recipe card.
- I really like the added color and texture of fresh pomegranate seeds in a pomegranate margarita. You can buy a whole pomegranate and remove the seeds yourself, or most grocery stores sell small packages of pomegranate seeds in the produce area.
- Grenadine is a pomegranate flavored syrup that can be found in most grocery stores. It adds color and sweetness to this drink. Look for it in the mixers area near the alcohol. If you can’t find grenadine, you can use simple syrup, honey or agave to sweeten the drink.
- If you don’t have a cocktail shaker, you can simply stir the ingredients together with a spoon or use a mason jar as your shaker. If you’re making a large batch, you can stir everything together in a pitcher.
Quick Tip
I recommend purchasing a measuring shot glass to get the exact quantities of liquor and juices with minimal hassle.
Recipe FAQs
Pomegranate pairs well with tequila, vodka and sparkling wine. You can use pomegranate to flavor margaritas, mimosas or martinis.
Triple sec is a critical component of a good margarita. The orange flavor enhances the tequila, and the sweetness of this liqueur helps to balance the acidity in the lime juice.

Flavor Variations
This recipe is delicious as-is, but you can customize some of the flavors to your tastes.
- Juices: To make different flavors of margaritas, try swapping out the pomegranate juice for cranberry juice or cherry juice. You can also use blood orange juice for a blood orange margarita.
- Liquor: Mexcal is a good substitute for the tequila blanco. If you can’t find triple sec, use a different type of orange liqueur such as Grand Marnier.
- Garnishes: Instead of lime slices, try using orange slices. You can also use a sprig of rosemary as a garnish in lieu of the mint.
You absolutely cannot go wrong with a pomegranate margarita. The bright and refreshing flavors just can’t be beat!
