This pineapple smoothie is a tropical combination of pineapple, banana, pineapple  juice and Greek yogurt, all blended together until creamy and smooth. A great smoothie for breakfast or snack time!

When I want to feel like I’m on a island vacation, I reach for a pineapple smoothie. It’s frosty, refreshing and tastes like a tropical mixed drink (without the alcohol!).

We are all about the smoothies these days – they’re quick, nutritious and totally refreshing. This pineapple smoothie is a current favorite because I can’t get enough of all those tropical flavors.

HOW DO YOU MAKE A PINEAPPLE SMOOTHIE?

Smoothies are extremely easy to make, and this one is no exception. It’s important to use frozen pineapple to get that perfect smoothie texture. Combine your frozen pineapple, banana, pineapple juice, and Greek yogurt in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve and enjoy!

I use just standard pineapple juice for my pineapple smoothie. However, it’s perfectly acceptable to use a mixed pineapple juice. For example, orange pineapple or orange pineapple banana are two great flavors for this pineapple smoothie.

What goes great with pineapple? Coconut of course! If you desire a more pina colada type flavor for your pineapple smoothie, simply add coconut milk and you’re on your way to tropical paradise. Adding some other tropical fruits like mango will mix up the flavor of your smoothie as well.

Some ingredients that can be used to up the health factor of your pineapple smoothie are

  • Protein powder
  • Chia seeds
  • Spinach
  • Flax seeds

Glasses of blended pineapple smoothie with mint garnish.

WHAT ARE THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF PINEAPPLE?

Pineapple is chock full of health benefits. Pineapple contains 131% of a person’s daily vitamin C intake. Outside of that, it improves mental health, cardiovascular health, reduces inflammation, and so much more1

IS PINEAPPLE GOOD FOR WEIGHT LOSS?

Pineapple has been dubbed the “natural weight loss food.” It contains a very low calorie count and is quite filling. Good gut health aids in natural weight loss as well, and pineapple has properties that support good gut health.

I liketo begin my day with a pineapple smoothie. It takes just minutes to prepare and always makes me feel like I’m getting my morning off to a great start!

Great! But a little too sweet for my taste, even though I used plain Greek, instead of vanilla, yogurt. Next time for the liquid I’ll use half juice and half water, or maybe all water, I expect it will still taste great and, with this adjustment, will cut down on carbs and calories, too. Thanks for the great combo recipe!

I have been told that pineapple is good for arthritis but I didn’t find my first attempt at preparing and eating fresh pineapple extremely successful. I guess that this would kill two birds with one stone particularly as i have frozen pineapple in the freezer. It also sounds delicious.
