These easy honey garlic pork chops are coated in a sweet and savory sauce, then cooked in the slow cooker until tender and succulent. The perfect easy meal for a busy day!
If you’ve never experienced crock pot pork chops, now is your opportunity to give them a try! The pork comes out fork tender and the sauce has just a handful of ingredients, yet is complex in flavor.
Chicken is a staple for crock pot cooking, but did you know that pork chops are also a perfect protein for the slow cooker? These honey garlic pork chops come out so tender and flavorful that they’ll be sure to find a place on your regular dinner menu rotation.
How to make honey garlic pork chops
For this recipe you’ll want to use thick cut boneless pork chops. If you use a thin pork chop, you should reduce the cooking time so that they don’t dry out. My pork chops were about 1 1/2 inches thick. I prefer to brown my pork chops before I add them to the slow cooker, it just adds so much more flavor. If you’re in a hurry you can skip that step and the chops will still be delicious.
The sauce is made with ketchup, soy sauce, honey and garlic. At the end of the cooking process, a little cornstarch gets added to thicken the sauce. Be sure to serve your honey garlic pork chops over mashed potatoes or with rice or bread to soak up that amazing sauce!
I add a little chopped parsley at the end for a fresh flavor. If you don’t have parsley on hand, you can omit it, or substitute sliced green onions.
Not a pork fan? You can make this recipe with chicken instead! Simply substitute boneless skinless chicken thighs for the pork chops.

- In a small bowl, whisk together the garlic, ketchup, soy sauce and honey. Pour the sauce over the pork chops.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on LOW for 4 hours.
- In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 1/4 cup cold water. Add the cornstarch mixture to the slow cooker.
- Cook for 1 more hour or until sauce has just thickened and pork chops are tender. Sprinkle with parsley and serve.
Notes
- Boneless skinless chicken thighs can be substituted for pork chops.
- You can add some sriracha or chili flakes if you want a spicier meal.
Is there anything i can use to substitute the soy sauce?
You could try using 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce although I haven’t tested that myself!
Could I do these in the oven? What temp and time would you recommend for 4 pork loin steaks? Sounds like a nice dish but unfortunately my crockpot has gone to heaven!
I think you could bake them, how thick are the steaks?
I used bone in chops bc thats all i had. I hope its still good. K
If I make 4 pork chops instead of 6 do I need to reduce the cooking time?
The cook time should be the same!
Could I use tomato paste and vinegar instead of ketchup? Would that change the taste too much
You might want to add some sugar too since ketchup is sweet!
These were so good and so simple! Made a rice pilaf with peas and carrots as a side. Awesome. Will be a definite keeper! Thank you!
Can I cook the pork chops on high for 2 hours instead of low for 4 hours?
Yes that should be fine!
I want to try this tomorrow, but only have thin chops. do you have a recommendation on how much time I should use in this case ?
Reduce the time by one hour!
Making this right now with just 3 chops (since there is is just the 2 of us)and the full amount of sauce the recipe requires, i’m serving it with brown basmati rice and pan sauted peppers, onions and celery, it smells amazing in here right now.Dinner is at 7-. Can’t wait!!!
Hello, this sounds delicious and I can’t wait to try it. I was wondering if I added potatoes and onion to the slow cooker with the pork, would I need to increase the cooking time?
Cooking time should be the same!
Cooking 8, 1 1/4″ boneless chops right now. I also browned the fat back for ~2+ mins, so I’m looking at shaving 45+ mins off the cook time.
The sauce could not be easier. Tempted to add heat there, but decided to go straight recipe this time.
Can this be doubled? How much time should I add to the cooking? I have a big family!
Yes you can double it, just increase the number of servings in the recipe card and the ingredient amounts will automatically update! You can add 1 hour to the cook time.
Thank you! It smells amazing!
do you put the chops in a dry pot or should you put some water in
I put the pork chops in with just the sauce, no water!
Making this dish tomorrow. Could only buy
3/4 inch pork chops, so will shave an hour off cook time. Will probably double sauce. 😁
Love this dish! It’s so delicious and comes out perfect every time!
I wasn’t a lover of pork chops before lockdown, since finding this recipe wow just wow thank you it has now become a favourite for me and my partner , have this atleast once a week, I seem to have a stock pile of pork chops
I plan on cooking 8 thin cut pork chops since that is all I found. How long should I cook them for?
Cook them for one hour less!
What about 4 thin pork chops that’s all I have. Would I cook on low for 2 hours and add cornstarch and water for another hour totally 3 hours???
Yes that works!
Thank you. I tried them like you said but was to much time lol for thin ones. Gonna try again tonight. Less time. Thanks so much
Gonna try the 2 hours with extra hour for corn starch 😊
Trying these today. Dony know how they’ll be yet but the house and sauce smells delicious
well this was a home run – yet again, from your website. It came out fantastic, I didnt have garlic🤦🏻♀️ so I used garlic powder and onion powder and oh my oh my, so so good. My pickiest love asked for more yummy sauce and ate all the meat. I put rice in a rice cooker next to it and we played instead of my standing backwards to my kids. winner winner piggy dinner:)
Made this today. It’s good, but next time I’ll do things a little bit different. For starters, I noticed some others commented that they put an onion in the crock pot. I did this, but I don’t think it added anything to the dish. Next time I won’t do that. My chops were only about an inch thick. I cooked them according to the recipe (five hours on low), and they came out a bit dry. Next time I’ll adjust the cooking time to account for the thickness of the meat. One of my kids doesn’t like even the smallest amount of spice, but I personally think this dish could use some spice. Maybe next time I’ll add heat to the gravy after removing the chops. Also, I’m not sure that pan searing the chops before slow cooking them added anything other than another dish to wash. I guess that’s personal preference. In all, a good dish, which I will make again!
