Passion Fruit Margarita

This passion fruit margarita features tequila, triple sec, passion fruit puree, lime juice and agave syrup, all mixed together for a unique and refreshing cocktail. A fun twist on the traditional margarita recipe!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ounce passion fruit puree thawed if frozen
  • ¾ ounce agave syrup
  • ounces tequila blanco
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • lime slices, mint and fresh passion fruit pulp for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Place the sugar and salt on a small plate and stir to combine. Dip the rim of a glass in water and place the rim on the plate.
  • Turn the glass on the plate to coat the rim, then place the glass upright.
  • Place ice in a cocktail shaker
  • Add the passion fruit puree and agave syrup to the shaker, along with the tequila, triple sec and lime juice. Shake well.
  •  Place ice in the cup, then strain the cocktail into the glass.
  • Garnish the drink with fresh passion fruit pulp, limes and mint if desired, then serve.

Notes

  1. Passion fruit puree is available in the frozen fruit section of many grocery stores.
  2. If you can't find passion fruit puree, try using passion fruit nectar (also known as passion fruit cocktail) from the juice aisle. To make this drink with passion fruit nectar, use 3 ounces nectar with 1 1/2 ounces tequila, 1 ounce triple sec, 1/2 ounce lime juice and 1/2 ounce agave.
  3. This recipe makes one drink. If you need passion fruit margaritas for a crowd, simply change the number of servings and the ingredient amounts will recalculate.
