Ingredients

  • 750 ml bottle white wine such as chardonnay or pinot grigio
  • 1/2 cup cranberry juice unsweetened
  • ½ cup brandy
  • 1 apple sliced
  • 1 orange sliced
  • ½ cup fresh cranberries
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 cup ginger ale
  • 1 cup sparkling apple cider
  • rosemary sprigs and star anise for garnish

Instructions

  • Pour the white wine into a large pitcher.
  • Add the cranberry juice and brandy.
  • Place the apple slices, orange slices, cranberries, cinnamon sticks and star anise in the pitcher.
  • Stir, then chill the white wine mixture for at least 2 hours.
  • Remove the pitcher from the fridge, then pour in the apple cider and ginger ale.
  • Serve, with extra star anise and rosemary sprigs for garnish if desired.

Notes

  1. Add the sparkling cider and ginger ale right before serving for the best results. Otherwise the drink could go flat if you add the sparkling liquids at the beginning.
  2. You can use any type of apple you like. Some of my favorite options include Pink Lady, Honeycrisp or Granny Smith.
  3. Sometimes I use two smaller clementines rather than a full sized orange for a different flavor and presentation.
