Ingredients

  • 6 Russet potatoes 6-8 ounces each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • toppings of your choice such as butter, cheese, bacon and sour cream

Instructions

  • Scrub the potatoes, then use a fork to prick holes in each one.
  • Rub the olive oil over the potatoes, then season them with the salt and pepper.
  • Wrap each potato in foil.
  • Place the potatoes in a crock pot.
  • Cook for 4 hours on high or 8 hours on low.
  • Carefully unwrap the potatoes and cut them down the center. Serve with toppings of your choice.

Notes

  1. Choose potatoes that are similar in size so that they cook at the same rate.
  2. This recipe assumes you're using potatoes that are about 6-8 ounces each. If your potatoes are significantly larger or smaller, the cook time can vary.
  3. While Russet potatoes are the most popular choice for a classic baked potato, you can also use red potatoes or Yukon Gold potatoes.
