I am always looking for new ways to get my kids to eat wholesome foods; it makes me so happy when they’re willing to eat a nutritious snack! I was out shopping at Walmart with my girls the other day and we came across Disney® Frozen String Cheese in the dairy aisle. My kids asked to buy it because they’re huge Frozen fans, and I was happy to oblige. I love that Disney® Frozen String Cheese is made with milk and is a good source of calcium and protein, so important for my growing girls! Plus the packaging is adorable, don’t you think?

I find that it’s hard to get protein into my kids sometimes, so I often give them a Disney® Frozen String Cheese as a quick on-the-go snack, or I tuck one into their lunchboxes along with some fruit, vegetables and whole wheat crackers. I believe that high protein snacks are more filling for my children, and they’re happy to have a Disney® Frozen String Cheese any day of the week!

Sometimes when I have a few extra minutes, I cut up the cheese and skewer it with olives and vegetables to make these fun kid kabobs. My girls are hit or miss when it comes to eating their veggies, but everything is more fun to eat when it’s on a stick! I alternate between pieces of Disney® Frozen String Cheese, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and olives. Other great choices would be celery, pieces of bell pepper, or even some lean meat like turkey. You can mix and match your children’s favorites to create a healthy snack that’s full of protein and vegetables.

What goes great with veggies? Dip, of course! I always have a container of homemade ranch powder in the fridge, and I combine it with a little low fat sour cream which makes the perfect dip for our kid kabobs. You could also use a store bought low fat ranch dressing or dip. It only takes about 5 minutes to put this easy snack together, but it adds a little bit of extra fun to the regular routine. If you’re making kid kabobs for young children, you can use kitchen shears to snip the pointed ends off the skewers after you’ve loaded on the cheese and veggies. I use a 6-inch skewer that’s perfect for little hands, I found them at my local party store. These kabobs would also be great for a birthday party.

I am ALL about the easy and convenient snacks, and this Disney® Frozen String Cheese definitely fits the bill. Be sure to check out Cheese Adventures for lots of fun activities for the kids, as well as great tips for moms! You can also grab a coupon for $1 off a Disney® String Cheese product (expires 1/15/2017). I’m definitely going to be stocking up!

I’d love to hear from you – what’s your favorite go-to snack for the kids? I’m always looking for more ideas!

These are great for the kids! I never feel guilty about giving the kids fun veggies and cheese for a snack. These are so tasty, I like to make a couple of kabobs for myself too.
